Dear Members,
We have seen a strong number of athletes competing for Camberwell Malvern across the first four rounds of cross country season and I was pleased to report our hosted event in Blackburn South on May 19th went smoothly. Well done to all those who raced and we had 218 runners from across the region. A special thanks to parents that volunteered as helpers and our committee for arranging the event.
Looking ahead into June we have a number of events before the school holidays. Below are some details.
XC training continues on Wednesdays
There is training today Wednesday, May 29th from 4.45pm to 6pm at McAlpine Oval in Kooyong. This will continue until June 19th and then we will take a break and resume on July 10th (ahead of Regionals).
State cross country relays
The 2024 State Cross-Country Relay Championships are being held at Cruden Farm in Langwarrin on Saturday 8th June, 2024. This is a team event for U9-U17, entries have closed and we have registered eleven teams for Camberwell Malvern. If you child is entered please engage with our WhatsApp group for ongoing details. For attending parents we ask you to volunteer at this link for brief duties please.
Box Hill XC open day Sunday, June 2nd
Box Hill LAC are hosting an event this Sunday. Please note this an open day and requires families to enter individually and athletes to wear club uniform. Please see the attached flyer for details.
Regional Cross Country Program details
The 2024 Region Cross-Country Carnivals are OPEN and taking registrations. Entries close Monday, 24th of June at 11:00 a.m.
This event also serves as a qualifying event for the 2024 State Cross-Country Championships. The EMR Region event is taking place on Saturday 13th July 2024 at Tom Kelly Reserve in Doncaster.
Winter Cross Country Program details
Lastly, a reminder your current membership includes access for Camberwell Malvern members to compete in the Eastern 7’s Cross Country program every Sunday morning and LAVIC events. Each week follows a similar timetable and we recommend arriving 30 minutes before your event. Simply arrive with your child’s registration bib / barcode & uniform and wait for the age-group to be called.
We ask all members to arrange any uniform orders or barcode / bib requests during the week. The club contact person will then arrange for them to be picked up or delivered. Winter is a great time to order the club hoodies! Please use the online shop for any uniform orders.
